Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School offers a variety of extracurricular activities for its students. Some are based on athletics, others on the arts, academics, and community service. Below is a list of opportunities offered to our students.
Athletics-(Basketball, Cheerleading, Soccer & Volleyball)- is a ministry of IHM parish and the IHM Athletic Association. Click here for more information.
Band- Band is for students in grades 6th-8th who have one year of band experience and practice takes place after school hours. The band performs in concerts and at special events throughout the school year.
Bricks 4 Kidz- A hands-on class where students will design and build motorized Lego models including space shuttles and roller-coasters. Because of its widespread popularity, we hope to bring this program back in the near future.
Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts- Are ministries of IHM Parish. Boy Scouts are for male students in late 5th grade through high school and Cub Scouts is available for both girls and boys in 1st-5th grades. The troops will go camping, learn about nature, and enjoy a variety of activities with their fellow scouts.
Brownies, Daisies and Girl Scouts- Are also ministries of IHM parish. They are led by parent volunteers and combine indoor activities with outdoor adventures.
Chess Club- Open to elementary and middle school students. Champion Chess offers students a systematic and fun way to build chess skills, while also improving their math, reading, and problem-solving skills. Chess is on hold for this 1st Quarter.
Dance- Ballet, tap, jazz, and pre-pointe dance classes are offered through Pointe of Grace. Classes are taught on the IHM campus after school and are open to students in Kindergarten-8th grade.
Journey- Provides opportunities for middle school students to enrich their faith and serve others in a meaningful way. Journey volunteers may play bingo with residents at Briarcliff Oaks, assist The St. Vincent de Paul Society with clothing and food drives, or serve evening meals at the Central Night Shelter. No matter what the activity, students, parents, and teachers are living out our gospel values.
Middle School Dinner Theatre - Provides an opportunity for all middle school students to participate in a live production. Students may perform, help with the tech crew, costume and set design, choreography, distribute tickets or serve dinner. Decisions about having a performance this school year are still being made.
National Junior Honor Society- Students in 7th and 8th grade who demonstrate leadership skills, citizenship, possess strong moral character, engage in service to others and maintain a 93% average or better in all core subjects are eligible to apply for NJHS.
Safety Patrol- Students in 5th-8th grades are eligible to join patrols. They are responsible for ensuring carpool procedures are followed and students remain safe while on campus. 5th grade manages the morning carpool while middle school students handle after-school pick-up.
STEM Class- Our after-school program is designed to foster students' creativity, technical skills, mathematical understanding, and analytical skills to solve real-world problems in a cooperative, learning environment.
Student Council- Offers leadership opportunities for students in grades 4th-8th. Members represent the student body and work together to communicate concerns and make suggestions to the school's administration. They also encourage school spirit and participate in service projects throughout the year.
Yearbook- Open to interested 8th-grade students, who will be responsible for publishing the annual, IHM yearbook.
